Autumn/Winter make up is the best because it stays on and the colours give you a little more to play with! It might just be my skin type (combination/oily) but in Summer I kind of give up on make up as nothing stays in place and I end up looking bedraggled within an hour of leaving the house. So I see this time of year as a time to rediscover products I know I love as well as try new ones. I also love that in Autumn in particular (in my opinion) it’s 100% fine to wack on a glitzy bold eyeshadow in the day time – because it’s autumnal, right?
For every day though, I love getting my skin looking glowy with a bit of glitz here and there and a timeless nude lip. I’ve recently being trying some new bits and bobs and also discovered Morphe eyeshadow palettes so they’re all featured here, in my every day autumn make up.
PRIMER: Benefit Cosmetics the POREfessional face primer – not my absolute fave texture as I’m not a fan of silicon based products but it really does work, as much as I hate to admit it.
FOUNDATION: Too Faced Born This Way in Porcelain. To be honest, I could probably do with a shade lighter than this but it was the fairest available in my local Debenhams. The oil-free formula of this foundation will keep me buying it over and over. It is really lightweight and gives a lovely semi-matte finish. It lasts so well with the primer underneath.
CONCEALER: Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer – I think this is a great concealer for the price. It’s a bit better than the coveted Collection Lasting Perfection in my eyes as it’s a bit less drying however it isn’t quite full coverage and doesn’t work so well when I want my make up more full.
BRONZER: Benefit Cosmetics Hoola – I love it but I hate that when you hit pan like I have you can’t really swirl your brush in it because of the boxy packaging. Still great though…not that I’ve ever even tried many other bronzers…
BLUSH: Kat Von D Everlasting Blush in Bellissima – such a good colour for a coral-pink flush but it’s SO chunky and the fall out is insane. It is so weird I can’t even describe it. The initial dab and swish of my brush into this sends powder everywhere but after some excessive tapping the product left on the brush is lovely and light. I think this shade has been discontinued as I got it so long ago but I’ve linked their current selection.
POWDER: Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish in Fair. My first Charlotte Tilbury product and although it’s good I’m not sure it is worth the £33. I’ll keep you posted.
EYESHADOW PRIMER: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden. Always and forever. Nothing comes close!
BROWS: Maybelline Brow Drama in Medium Brown – I don’t really think I suit fully filled in brows so I much prefer brow mascaras and this one is cheap and cheerful but does the trick.
EYESHADOW: On the lids: Morphe 35O palette – the colours don’t have names but I used a cream-white colour as an overall base, a matte honey-peach in the crease with a gold mixed in and one of my faves in the palette over the lid which is an iridescent peach with blue undertones that only show in certain lights. The buttery texture of Morphe shadows coupled with their pigment makes me wonder why I waited until now to get them. Lower lash line: Urban Decay’s Liquid Moondust in Solstice which is so glittery and wonderful but doesn’t really show in these photos. Soon there will be a full post with better images of that so keep your eyes peeled.
LINER: Collection 24hr Felt Tip Liner in Brown. This liner has very purple undertones and stains like hell but I still love it. You can get a really strong, straight line with it and for £2.99 who can argue with that.
MASCARA: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara – read all about that here.
LIPS: Clinique Long Last Lipstick in Blushing Nude. My Mother-in-law gave me this and it’s so creamy and wonderful. The perfect nude that goes with everything!
Would you wear this make up look? Do you prefer your make up in autumn too?! I would love your product suggestions.
